A free mod adding characters to Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge
The Command & Conquer: Yuri's Revenge - Doom Desire Mod adds a series of characters to the game, which also includes a re-skin for a mostly under-used building. The new characters are a little odd and include a set of units based on models of a virus.
A virus fighting mod
This mod doesn't fight computer viruses, but you can take part in a C&C game where the other units are viruses and bacteria. Rather than fighting military units, the units are large virus monsters that were based on the Coronavirus.
Added effects within the game
Many re-skins will add a new layer of texture over already existing Command & Conquer troops, and then fiddle with the data to do things like adding more hit points, or more attack points, etc. This mod does the same, but also adds changes to attack effects such as the red blaze effect during area-of-effect attacks.
Looks like concept art come to life
The appeal of this mod is the creative approach the developers took to create the characters. Some of them look like alien monsters, and others like some sort of future tech. Some even look like weird ice-cream desserts. The changes are not game changing, but they do offer a new set of enemies to take down, even if the enemies are not very sophisticated.
Essential tech looks different
The mod applies to the essential tech building too. It now looks like the top half of a bee hive. It is not unappealing, and it offers a nice change from the norm.
